Sushi Den overrated
I know one of the sushi cooks who has worked at sushi den, one who quit because he didn't like their quality setup. Knowing him, I've heard some inside scoop, things that don't give me the strongest confidence in their service. And in my own experience, 1st come 1st served isn't always true. They will seat larger parties who show up later than smaller parties, leaving the smaller parties to wait longer. This will happen even when they have to shove several two top tables together to seat larger parties. Happened to myself twice, and to 2 different friends on other occasions. Last time it happened to me, I was told for $50 I could get better service. With an average wait time of 45 minutes, they should have the most superb service to make up for such customer care. There might be some folks out there who want to eat here, but the sushi they have isn't that good. Denver has way to many Sushi houses to put up with that type of service, unless you just want to bee seen at Sushi Den. Try Sonata's for immediate service, or Domo for superb rural japanese food at a great price. And Namiko's in Arvada, which has recently expanded, seating is immediate, and the owner is known to come up and ask you how the food is, and drop off a free sushi roll for you to try. All in all, Sushi Den has okay food, but the service drives me to no longer patronise thier establishment. - , posted 04/27/07

weak
First off I would like to say that this place has become trendy and over priced. The service sucked, food was cold and the sushi was nominal and bland. If I am going to pay this much money for sushi I expect above and beyond the normal. Maybe this place was great at one time but there are much better places with higher quality, better service and prices. - L , posted 04/27/07

Sushi Den
This goes far beyond your ordinary sushi restaurant. Every experience I've had here has been top notch. No reservations; 1st come, 1st serve. This 250 seat restaurant is packed wall to wall, open to close thurs, fri., and Sat. Average cost/patron $75-$110----well worth it! The green mussel app is to die for, and the smoked trout hand roll is just amazing. Definately the freshest fish anywhere. Highly recomended for special occasions......... As far as poor service......never had it. I've lived in NYC most of my life and have never had fish that good, and NYC is expensive. If you think the Den is you need a second job. If you think raw fish is bland, then don't eat it. My wife, her sister and many of thier friends have been going to the Den for over 20 years, so no.....some people go there because it's great. Yes it has become trendy, but dont all good things??? We personally know one of the chefs, so maybe we are just lucky. I owned a restaurant for 6 years, graduated the CIA, so I know all about quality control. But then again, I guess some people like ordering thier sushi from a laminated menu......pshhhhhhhhhhhh! - Darkstar , posted 05/03/07
